Pet Assure
Pet Assure is not an insurance company; it's a kind of club that offers members an on-the-spot 25-percent discount on all care from participating veterinarians.

Pet Assure is a good way to save money without going through the hassle of filing claims or sorting out the complications of pet health insurance plans. By our calculations, if you visit the vet more than once or twice a year, the plan pretty much pays for itself. Plus there are no restrictions on what's covered, no surcharges for certain breeds, no exclusions for old dogs, and no limit to how often you can use your discount. And you don't have to wait for a claim to be reimbursed either.
If your dog has a major accident or illness, you'll save more money with most traditional pet-insurance plans than you will with Pet Assure. Plus, with Pet Assure you're restricted to using in-network vets and, while Pet Assure says its network includes around 7,000 veterinarians nationwide, those vets seem to be few and far between in major metropolitan areas. In both Chicago and the Bay Area, for example, there are less than 10 participating veterinarian offices. In Manhattan, there are only a half-dozen (happily, however, they include the well-regarded Riverside Veterinary Group and Riverside Animal Hospital).
