Dogs can't travel as checked baggage on Continental. Those small enough to fit under the seat (22" L x 14" W x 9" H is the kennel size limit) can be brought on board any flight within the continental US for $80 each way. (For rates for international travel, call the worldwide reservation office at 800-525-0280.) Otherwise, all pets on Continental are only accepted as cargo through the carrier's QuickPak Live Animal Program. The cost is $99 to $499, depending on destination, weight, and kennel size (note: you get one frequent flyer mile for each dollar spent).
Continental refuses to transport purebred or crossbred American Pit Bull Terriers who are older than six months or weigh more than 20 pounds. As well, between May 15 and September 15, all types of Bulldogs are forbidden. More rules: If the ground temperature is below 45 degrees, you'll need a vet letter stating that your dog can handle it, and if it is over 85 degrees, your dog can only travel if all transfers will take less than 45 minutes.
