Five hours or so by car.

Off-leash freedom on 700 private acres of an Adirondack mountain valley. Swimming in a shallow, 75-foot-wide, quarter-mile section of the AuSable River.
Fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking, and biking when it's warm. Snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing when it's cold. Surrounded by mountains, Fourpeaks' 700 acres include meadows, a forest and 20 miles of trails. For accommodation, there are six backcountry cabins with porches and outdoor cooking grills, but no electricity or hot water (they have gas lights, a wood-burning stove, a propane fridge, an outhouse, a fireplace, and a stand-up water pump). As well, there are two guest barns: two-bedroom, two-bath Adirondack-style cabins with electricity, hot showers and full kitchens.
Firewood, bed linens, towels and kitchen supplies. In the guest barns, dial-out phones. No maid service (you're expected to clean up before you leave). No dishwashers. No TV. No room service. No restaurant.
