I have an Alaskan Husky that I take to Hydrosurge regularly. I bathe my dog myself and absolutely love the hydrosurge bath he gets there. It's great to have the option of washing your own dog and leaving the mess behind. :) Jay is extremely experienced and will groom your dog himself or simply advise you on how to groom/bathe your own dog correctly. I am getting a new puppy this weekend and will be taking him there as well. Jay has a lot of regulars, which speaks for itself in NYC.

I've had Afghanhounds, a very high maintenance pet, for over 40 years and lived on the upper West side for 27 years. Until about 10 years ago, I had been to many, many groomers, both in this neighborhood and thoroughout the city and Long Island. Among the things I noticed were my pets trying to leave in a hurry and getting nervous when we went back, cuts in the skin, very choppy grooming and my dog being blamed for being uncooperative. One evening I met Jay and all this changed. I had Daffodil at that time and she had a form of ezcema that the vet could not clear up. After one session with Jay she stopped scratching and after the second bath the condition went away, never to return. Chloe started going to Jay when she was 3 months old. She jumps into the bathtub and then up onto the table. She loves him and greets him with kisses when she sees him walking his dog in the park. Jay even taught me how to bathe Chloe myself which I love doing because it's fun and it's quality time that Chloe and I spend t

My dog Buddy and I love Hydrosurge. I don't make that much money as a beginning teacher, so it's hard for me to fork over $45.00 for dog-grooming. But, with Hydrosurge, Buddy gets so clean that it's worth it. Jay uses wonderful shampoos, and he always takes the time to help me wash Buddy's ears and face (things I'm a bit nervous about). I like washing my own dog, and when I see the dirt coming off of Buddy, I am SO glad that it's not happening in the same tub that I bathe in!!! I've never been disappointed by the services Jay offers at Hydrosurge.

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
I adopted my very first dog at the age of 41 - a keeshound (hair is like a chow's) I didn't realize what a big job it would be to care for a dog such as this, with the amount of hair and skin problems they sometimes get. After trying 2 other groomers my vet told me about Jay at Hydrosurge. Not only did Jay help to clear up my dog's skin problems with the type of bathing technique hydrosurge is, but the care and concern Jay has for my dog (as well as all the others that I see as I'm picking up my dog)is outstanding. He is top-notch - don't kid yourself. This guy is good at what he does and he's sincere, patient and knowledgeable. I wouldn't take my dog ANYWHERE ELSE! Thanks Jay!!!

I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else. First of all, Hydrosurge is unbelievable for my dog's skin and hair. You can't get a better bath anywhere.

Also, I would never leave my dog at a groomers unattended by me. I like to be there with him. Jay welcomes owners and the more you help out, the less it costs.

It's just a win-win situation for owner and dog. I know that vets recommend dogs to Jay who have difficult skin problems, also.

He cares about animals. You know it's not someone who is getting paid by the hour to get your dog in and out. He's liscenced. He pays attention.

Coney and I love Hydrosurge. We had a bath today, yes we as I am not that great at doing it , but he is soooooooooo clean and nice smelling , its wonderful. His summer coat is gleaming. Jay is great and showed us the ropes and after mixing him a shampoo cocktail also did his ears too. It is an entirely worthwhile experience esp after trying to bathe a 90 pound puppy in our tub. After his last hydro bath he stayed clean for many many weeks, far greater clean than we did at home . I def recommend the Hydrosurge.

Hi,
I brought "Meiko" to Jay from Slovakia. Whenever I am Importing Dogs and in NYC,
I use the HydroSurge, it's great for the big German Shepherd Dogs with thick sable coats from Eastern Europe. Jay is a super guy, and I use the HydroSurge here in Colorado also to make the K-9's coats look great! You can see my dogs at

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
I have a twelve year old collie with hots spots who was getting treatments twice a week from the vet. When I complained to my vet that his debriding treatments were way too expensive, he suggested I look Jay up on the internet at nypets.com.

This is how I learned all about Jay,(he's a master groomer) and the Hydrosurge method which was developed by Dr.Robert Loeb. Jay is the only groomer in the country who was actually trained by Dr. Loeb in the proper use of the Hydrosurge. I decided to make an appointment for a lesson in how to bathe Laddie by myself.

Jay is an excelllent teacher, he showed me how to bathe Laddie using the Hydrosurge along with the special medications prescribed by my vet. He showed me how to debride properly to encourage the regrowth of granulated tissue and to properly remove the scabs in order to control the hot spots. Although the bath alone takes an hour it is well worth the time and the savings to do it myself. Laddie looks and feels great and the hot spots are under control

We have used Hydrosurge with Jay, and we were very happy. Our dog stepped into blue paint at home and was walking around with blue paws for a while. My 4-year-old daughter and I took our puppy for grooming at Hydrosurge, and with Jay's very helpful supervision, we were able to eliminate the blue stains and also give her a relaxing water massage. The experience gave me and my daughter a chance to bond with our dog, and she came out smelling wonderful and feeling soft as a puppy. We plan to go back again -- fun for the whole family!

I was recommended by another dog owner and I have been very pleased with the experience of bathing both my Shelties at Hydrosurge. Jay Andors is very knowledgeable and helpful, and I think that the experience of do-it-yourself dog bathing is extremely good for calming the dogs and improving their willingness to be bathed there.

Furthermore, it is a real New York experience to take the dogs to Hydrosurge and chat with Jay about dogs, the theatre, being a parent, life in general. This is a great city and New Yorkers know that it is a very friendly one. Hydrosurge and Jay prove that to me.

Our new dog, Australian Shepherd, also loves the hydrosurge bathing. Jay knows dogs & can handle any dog. You'll be very happy with the grooming & the service!

Today was my second trip to Jay Andors "Hydrosurge". Jay's place is a

a "Show Dog Quality Golden" which means
she has a lot of hair! She likes to swim
in the lake and was so matted but Jay got out all the tangles and she looks like a beauty queen again. I'm sure this cycle
of fun will repeat (swim,matted,hydrosurge,swim,matted,hydrosurge,swim,matted,hydrosurge..............
Jay is a pleasure and one of these days I'm coming in for lessons! After all we are dealing with an expert in Dogs and

for the quality service and care you provide to all your customers! See you

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
I know this site is specifically for dogs, BUT... since the question was about Jay's services in general, I wanted to write a littele note about my cat & our experience with Jay. My poor kitty has been through a lot... first a serious apt fire, then steriods to 'clear up' his newly acquired asthma. The steroids made him diabetic. Throughout the year as the cat got sicker, my 15 year old pal got VERY VERY VERY tangled. He was so 'sick' I had to wait to deal with the secondary issue of his knots and by the time, Jay met him, the cat was a disaster. I was afraid he'd send me away, but Jay painstakingly spent almost 2 hours carefully shaving my kitty. The cat's skin was pulled up into the knots so the task was a difficult one. After several scratches and a lot of struggle (from the cat, of course!), Jay managed to get out the tangles AND no skin was broken at all. It's been a month and kitty is doing better than ever. It's obvious that the tangles were just another 'health issue' for him (I thought it was just co

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
I was walking my dog by the upper west side over this past July 4th weekend and saw the Hydrosurge sign. To my surprise, not only was it open, Jay welcomed me in and let me give a Hydrosurge bath to my dog without an appointment. Jay was great. He not only showed me how to bath her with the HydroSurge equipment, he gave me great tips on caring for her as I am first time dog-owner.

Jay experience is invaluable and I not only got a chance to bathe my dog but I received free dog care advice. HydroSurge is like a high powered water massage which deep cleans even the undercoat. My Shepherd/Chow mix came out the cleanest I've ever seen her and she smelled great. Jay's shampoo recommendations left an incredible feel and softness to my dog's coat.

I highly recommend trying a Hydrosurge bath at Jay's place. I live on the upper east side and although it was incidental, it was absolutely worth the trip to see Jay. I definately plan on future Hydrosurge baths for my dog.

And as far as customer service, y

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
It makes me very proud to read the positive feedback from all these NY pet owners who have experienced the benefits of Hydrosurge bathing. Jay Andors is my cousin and Hydrosurge was invented by my father, Dr. Robert Loeb. Hydrosurge bathing systems use copious water irrigation and jet debridement of skin lesions to promote healing of various types of skin ulcers and dermatitis that affect both animals and humans. As a physician, I use these techniques when treating human forms of skin ailments such as diabetic foot ulcers. The benefits of water irrigation and jet debridement on healing is independent of the medical solutions used in conjunction with Hydrosurge therapy and is what makes Hydrosurge so effective not only for bathing animals but for healing skin wounds, ulcers and dermatitis. Over the years, Jay has had extensive contact with my dad as he developed Hydrosurge and so Jay has first hand knowledge of my dad's bathing techniques.

Best wishes,

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
After reading all the positive reviews here, I made a trip from Brooklyn to the UWS to visit hydrosurge. All the things I read about Jay here was totally true. What a super guy! He was knowledgeable and very caring about dogs and their people. I said to him that he'll make lots more money if he expanded his facility, but he told me that he would rather do all the work himself or work closely with the clients washing the dogs themselves, because that way he can make it absolutely certain that the dogs are getting the total attention they deserve. I was very impressed with his approach and his firm but gentle way with my dog. The facility is not fancy so if you are looking for glitz, this may not be the place for you, but for really positive grooming experience for you & your dog, Hyrosurge seems one of the best places in NYC.

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
I recently discovered hydrosurge when my dog was diagnosed with a skin rash that was not responding to nearly every antibiotic but 2 that had very dangerous side effects that could cause major harm. Being devastated i asked my vet if i could try one more week to treat the rash topically before getting on the drug path. We took her to hydrosurge and Jay was most helpful and caring. We bathed her in medicated shampoo with the hydrosurge method. I felt Jay had our best interest at heart and that he genuinely believe in his product and it's benefits (as we do now). It's been almost a 3 weeks now and my dog's rash is 90% gone. We are thrilled. I would recommend visiting this place (which is no frills in ambiance) but has lots of love and care which in my opinion is most important for my dog! I've been to other fancy places and will never return. I plan to continue taking my dog there! thank you jay!!

We just had to concur that Jay Andors' Hydrosurge is the absolute best! We've taken our Maltese/ Shih-tzu puppy back 3x and have only great reviews - everytime we learn so much about how to best care for our puppy.

For instance, due to 2 broken arms, I wasn't able to properly comb my puppy's coat. Although my husband did his best, he had a lot to deal with my injuries and her coat became filled with mats. She was so matted that Jay's 1st solution was to shave her. He instantly knew that wasn't an option for us. So he proposed a time-consuming patch by patch dematting option AND offerred to teach us how to safely do this at home. He strongly suggested we learn to do it to save us from numerous visits. What a NY vendor saving you $$$? Yes, Jay is this considerate! His insistance to teach us is a clear representation that he not only cares about your dog, but also your bottom line. By teaching us how to properly demat her, we saved ourselves about 4 one hour visits. I'm happy to announce that after

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
I heartily recommend Hydrosurge. I never thought I would pay to have my golden retreiver washed. He can get dirty so quickly and he is very good about getting bathed in my bathtub. I tried the self-service wash at Hydrosurge and I don't think he has ever been this clean. With Hydrosurge's facilities, Ripley comes out cleaner and fluffier than he ever did being washed at home. There is a longer time between washings because his coat is clean to the skin. The tubs are big enough that I can wash Rachel, my shepard mix puppy, with Ripley at the same time. I wash the dogs myself at Hydrosurge so it makes it more economical for me. Jay is very friendly and helpful. He explains how to use all the equipment and products. Try it!

Re:Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
I had my doubts about this since my vizsla is pretty easy to keep clean but he had a winter with several hot spots on his paws and a few new recent skin bumps (which are benign). I took him last night and Jay was really helpful, showing me how to wash him and I think the best part was it really massaged his spine (which is in bad shape) as well as his hips (also not so good). Aside from looks (he came out looking gorgeous), it was really fun to do and my dog really had great energy on the way home. Jay kept calling it more of a holistic treatment and I think that's true. And he only has one bump left on his skin today -- the rest are gone! I was a skeptic but now I'm a believer. I will go back with Deuce.

My husband and I took our dog to Hydrosurge a few weeks ago and it was great. We were nervous about washing his face/ears, and Jay showed us how to keep his ears shut, and how to massage him to keep him calm during the bath. Oscar had a fentanyl patch removed (looks kind of like a nicotine patch) and the adhesive was still stuck to his skin - we couldn't get it off and Oscar was chewing on it, making it red. Jay showed us how to use peanut butter (who knew?) to get it off safely. He also showed us some treats that Oscar is nuts about, and it's helped us a lot with training. Oscar is much cleaner after a hydrosurge bath than when we clean him at home - the spray/nozzle really gets the soap to his skin and he smells great and looks much better after a bath there. Highly recommended - especially for less experienced owners who are a little nervous about washing their dog for the first time.

I am SO glad we found Jay. Our nine month old shihtzu puppy, Rory, had not yet been professionally groomed. We had been clipping her at home. But she needed a good professional grooming. We didn't want to bring her somewhere and leave her. Her first experience had to be wonderful, it would set the tone for grooming for the rest of her life.

I found Jay's site online, called him and he took us very quickly, as soon as he could. He was wonderful to Rory and to us! He was patient with her and she immediately took to him. He let us stay, thank goodness, because I was a very nervous mommy. No need for it though, he treated her beautifully, gave her a wonderful first grooming and he is now Rory's permanent groomer.

That hydrosurge bath is something else - made me wish I was a dog LOL! Rory is still so relaxed from it and her skin and coat are gorgeous. We love Jay and we love the kind, personal service he offers. How fortunate we are that such an experienced groomer loves animals the way he does and was kind

I just took my dog for the first time to Hydrosurge. I bathed her myself with a great deal of guidance from Jay. Jay was so knowledgeable and very helpful. The grooming products at Jay's shop are fabulous. He mixed a special bathing solution based on her hair type. She came out soooo soft and silky and smells great too. I've know Jay Andors since he started grooming and using the original Hydrosurge Animal Bathing Systems that were invented by my father Dr. Robert Loeb. Jay has many years of experience, is honest and dependable. When you go to Jay, you are giving your pet a therapeutic treatment with Hydrosurge, that was developed over many years and has been shown to be beneficial in various common pet dermatological conditions.

Simply put, Jay at Hydrosurge is the best!!

Years back, Onyx and I first went to Hydrosurge because we had trouble at two other groomers; he had been mishandled at the other groomers (one of the places is now closed). He had a back issue afterwards and even got cut once at the other groomers. So when I went to Hydrosurge I asked Jay if I could stay while he bathed and groomed Onyx as I no longer trusted anyone. Jay welcomed me to stay. Now having experienced Jay and Hydrosurge, I would be more than comfortable leaving Onyx there. I do still usually stay, but only because I like to visit with Jay and pick up some of his knowledge, besides just catching up.

He is friendly, knowledgeable, and put Onyx and I at ease. Onyx is now almost 17 years old and the gentle handling Jay gives him is just great as well as the advice and support to me, as Onyx's age is catching up to him.

By the way it doesn't hurt that his price is reasonable too.

I would NOT go anywhere else.

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
puffin loves getting a bath at hydrosurge and I love giving it to her myself. the hydrosurge self service is so convenient when you have a big dog like puffin. Jay even taught her to jump up into the tubs. she looks like a movie star when she leaves there!!!!!!

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
now puffin's friend mickey is going to hydrosurge and Jay did a beautiful job on her. Mickey has very sensitive skin but Jay is a pro and knows exactly how to handle it. Jay also was able to match the price of the previous groomer and gave mickey a much better grooming!!!!

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
My family and I had been using Jay's self-grooming services for some 10 years before I asked him to help me train my new puppy. I had gone to Jay not only because I trusted his extensive knowledge about dogs but also because he believes in using only positive reinforcement. This would be a real challenge as I have a non-neutered, strong-willed Samoyed.

Jay addressed my main concern - that my dog would listen to me when he was off-leash under any circumstances no matter how extremely distracting for the dog. Jay took his experience in winning several herding competitions to help me train my dog with mainly positive reinforcement. Now, I have my dog off-leash in Central Park, on vacation at the beach and just about anywhere without ANY concern about his listening and obeying my commands! It has made for a great relationship. More importantly I am able to take my dog anyplace, any time.

Thanks, Jay!

Re:Hydrosurge - Jay Andors - West 80th
Around 1996 we started taking our two collies to Jay. It has been the best grooming and bathing and care any of my dogs has ever had. This past year my four year old collie, Sully, developed some skin problems and Jay's hard work and devotion cleared them up better than any medicine. The past few months we have ended up living in Washington DC. It costs more to have the collies washed and groomed here in our Nation's Capitol than it costs for Jay to "do" them right in NYC.
I also know that in these financially difficult times Jay will meet any legitimate price anybody has been paying anywhere in the city within reason.
